African Booty Scratcher-Short Film by Nikyatu Jusu from Nikyatu Jusu on Vimeo.
I know this short film is a bit longer than 5-7 minutes but I thought it was a great film to reflect on as an example to help accomplish a few short films for myself. First, I want to point out that I believe the director, Nikyatu Jusu, of this video did a great job casting the roles. I do not believe this film would have been as successful without the people she used.
As for the film itself, I believe it has quite a smooth story line, the transitions were easy to follow, and I feel that the portrayal of emotional changes were well captured. I really enjoyed the diverse shots that Nikyatu caught, over the shoulder, reaction, extreme close up, and so on. Italso appears that she was aware of look space in most of the film and that helped to keep the piece balanced for sure.
I look to this film as a referance in creating my own films because I believe it was very successful. The color/contrast, lighting, and such are great, there wasnt any scene that stood apart from the rest of the film due to mis-lighting or awkward coloring (as far as I noticed).
I enjoyed the message from this film as well and hope you all do to! :)
