All I have to say is WOW.

Im a big fan of photography and editing so i figured I would post a video on it. The task of adding color to hair isnt a very complex task as you can see but I wanted to keep it short in order to keep viewer interest in the video I chose to post. I think the person who produced this educational short film did a great job with the presentation.

I have an extreme interest in Foresic Science and CSI tactics. This is an excellent and brilliant breakthrough. Im looking forward to all of the current unsolved crimes, that include gun shell casings, to be solved through this icredible breakthrough.

This blog goes with the blog "One day in Paris" the artists statement said that his "one day in paris" was inspired by this music video, so I utubed it and decided to put it up. The presentation was interesting, very different from what I am used to seeing and enjoying. But I think thats what makes it so great - it is a unique idea. . .

One Day In Paris from Max Appel on Vimeo.

What the artist had to say about his piece: "4 guys and 1 lady from dusseldorf, germany, gone crazy during a short trip to paris.
it is like a videodiary or more a moving photobook.
i recorded the best moments of the day with "a music video style", inspired by the dance "tectonic" performed in the musicvideo 'yelle - a cause des garcons'."

I liked the style of this video and I really enjoy the fact that this is a european short film. I think its pretty neat to see what people on the otherside of the world are doing and that we are all so connected through the internet.
The flow of the film was interesting, I liked the shots and how it was edited together. I am sure that all the participants in this film had a great time with this project.

Passion from mr. heydary on Vimeo.

This is an Iranian pop music video. I posted it on my blog due to the fact that I feel the videography is great for a short film. I also enjoy the diversity of language and presentation style. I love diversity, and I feel that accknowledging the beauty in the differences of people is an admirable thing to do. Though I have no idea of what this artist is singing about - other than Passion - I really enjoy the style of the film. The color, the lighting, the angles, the location of the performer, the cropping style in the cinemantagrophy, I enjoy all of those qualities in this short film.

NO INSPIRATION from Elena Molchanova on Vimeo.

We've all experienced the pain of creative inspiration when you just sit and wait for it to come.. This video is a perfect representation of what - like writers block- is considered to be creative blocked pertains to, feelings wise. I thought the quality of the stop-motion was excellent, especially with the flipping of the pages. The repitition was slightly irritating but then again so is creative block. but I do like the conclusion, inspiration will come, I wish it was a little longer with the head shots but in all I liked the concept of this short film.

That 70's show is my favorite tv show. It displays a great sense of humor and I love to laugh. I feel that the shots aquired in this show are excellent considering the fact that they are professionally done; and how they are edited together make for an interesting and entertaining 'short film.'

So I figure since I have seen signs all over campus about the swine flu that I would post a slight educational video about what it is and why it is spreading so fast. you can tell that this video is not professionally done, therefore, its not visually in my favor; but, it does relay valid information which ups the quality of this film for me. I hope people will watch this video and take to heart how serious this flu can become. So wash hands and stay informed! :)

So now that we've all had the opportunity to shoot a documentary I thought this clip would be the best to discuss. He makes a valid point on the fact that it takes alot of time to create and produce a finalized project, but otherwise I feel like he rambled a bit, ha.. most of the shots were boring, it looks like he just cropped then uncropped.
But anyway, accomplishing the documentary that my team and I produced was a great feeling, and Im proud of the fact that we have the knowledge to create a documentary and the ability to present it in a somewhat appealing way. :)

I wasnt able to make it to the film festival in Durango, but I had the pleasure of watching four very diverse documentaries at home over spring break, their previews are as follows:

Each of these documentaries cause some form of tension due to the fact that they are all so controversal. I enjoyed watching each of them and I also enjoyed the conversations they promoted with the people who watched them with me.

"On Native Soil" was an excellent documentary. It was very informative about how our government is run and what an important role we as citizens have in this country. The way that this documentry was accomplished, by using home videos and professional filming, really portrayed the mood in the most effective way. I highly recommend this film.

"Jesus Camp" was definitely an interesting one to watch. It captures a very extreme version of Christianity. Even though I was raised in a Christian home this documentary was very difficult for me to swallow because it was so extreme. The filming itself was well done as far as I observed, the content itself was definitely a lot stronger than any technical issues that may have occured with the filming process.

"Religulous" was also very interesting. In this documentary Bill Maher does a great job of asking some very simple, yet complicated, questions to make one really think about religion. I liked watching this documentary because a lot of great points were presented and it made for good dicussion. The filming was well done, the picture would slightly jump occasionally, but I know what a diffult task it can be to make a smooth transition sometimes. ;) I highly recommend this documentary.

"Paradise Lost 2" was definitely intriguing to me. I have always been interested in following murder cases, watching forensic files, CSI, Law&Order, Cold Case, Unsolved Mystery's, and so on... After Watching this documentary I am leaning with the bias of the filmmakers- That of- Mark Byers being guilty of the murder of the kids. This is part of filming though, they did a great job portraying a certain bias and convincing the viewers of that bias. I highly recommend this documentary.

The goal I would like to set and accomplish in the documentary we have to film for this class- is to create something that will cause talk, something slightly, if not totally, controversial. I feel that a controversial film is a successful film for sure. A film that leaves people in shock, awe, disbelief, or total-belief, a film that gets a "below the surface" reaction, is a film worth making, or at least worth trying to make... Im looking forward to this assignment and I hope I am able to accomplish this goal with the help and guidance of my wonderful peers. :)

So Ive been exploring this website and the people on it and I must say it made me quite excited to see that people all over the world are partaking in this crazy form of communicative technology! I saw blogs of/from people in India, Malaysia, and so many other places! This film was on the the profile of a man in Scotland. I watched this film and loved it. The camera along with the music sets a very specific mood. I love the style of this film and the editing.. its fantastic! I love how the person filming developed a visual relationship between the two stringed instruments; I loved when the music became more intesne so did the motion of the camera; I loved the role of the man with the suitecase. I may not totally understand precisely what the man with the suitecase symbolizes, but watching this film was fantastic for me.

I want you all to feel free to give me feedback on miscellaneous things you may notice throughout my posts. What you like, what you think is odd, heck, what YOU think the man with the suitecase symbolizes.

Im lovin this class and the opportunity to analyze and create films, Im having to much fun! :) Thanks Stacey!

Mykonos from Grandchildren on Vimeo.

Im on a roll with posting videos right now, so why stop now! haha... This is a stop-motion film that took the film makers 4 weeks to accomplish! After attempting my own stop-motion, for the experimental film, I was thoroughly impressed and appreciative of this film. Every movement is so smooth, these guys have stop motion skills.
PS! You can clisk on the underlined text, under the 2009 snowdown video, and it will take to vimeo.com :) cool

Snowdown!

Snowdown 2009 - Durango Colorado In Da Nile from Josh Stephenson on Vimeo

Snowdown in Durango. I was just checkin out films on Vimeo.com and found this one on Snowdown. So, I thought Id share it with you. Its just a quick summary, but its a fun little film. The editing looks pretty basic, and it could use an explanation on the events - that way when people who dont know what snowdown is see the film they know whats going on. Example: burping(its a contest), dark brown liquid pool (its beer), and so on. Fun stuff. Crazy Durango. :)
http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/10Things.html

The script I chose to read was "10 Things I Hate About You." I always enjoyed watching this movie as it focuses on two particular lives so vastly opposite from eachother. You have Kat, the cynical older sister, and Bianca, the conformist younger sister. This movie is basically about the journey of both sisters discovering what is important in life. Kat finds love and Bianca realizes that the "cool" crowd isnt everything its made up to be. Throughout the journey these girls embark on, Karen McCullah Lutz & Kirsten Smith, do a great job of throwing in random and cooky characters to make the movie a humorous ride. The films I would like to accomplish dont necessarily need to take place in a highschool but I would like to integrate humor or a message that is beneficial to the viewers. :)I look forward to working with my classmates on our future filming tasks, and I also look forward to seeing the films that we will make, go team. ;)

African Booty Scratcher-Short Film by Nikyatu Jusu from Nikyatu Jusu on Vimeo.

I know this short film is a bit longer than 5-7 minutes but I thought it was a great film to reflect on as an example to help accomplish a few short films for myself. First, I want to point out that I believe the director, Nikyatu Jusu, of this video did a great job casting the roles. I do not believe this film would have been as successful without the people she used.

As for the film itself, I believe it has quite a smooth story line, the transitions were easy to follow, and I feel that the portrayal of emotional changes were well captured. I really enjoyed the diverse shots that Nikyatu caught, over the shoulder, reaction, extreme close up, and so on. Italso appears that she was aware of look space in most of the film and that helped to keep the piece balanced for sure.

I look to this film as a referance in creating my own films because I believe it was very successful. The color/contrast, lighting, and such are great, there wasnt any scene that stood apart from the rest of the film due to mis-lighting or awkward coloring (as far as I noticed).

I enjoyed the message from this film as well and hope you all do to! :)

DISREGARD THE "WATCH MY NEW VIDEO PLEASE!" COMMENT - I didnt put it there.

I was shown this a couple weeks ago and loved it, so I thought I would quickly do a second posting, enjoy! This music video is brilliant and humorous. Jack Johnson is, of corse, so great and Ben S. is a funny guy. :) I love the angles, the camera on camera action, the zoom, the lookspace, and so on..

I know that this is only a teaser, but it gives a glimpse of just how great the movie "Thats it, Thats all" is. I am in love with the mountains, snow, and snowboarding; and, this video does an excellent job of capturing the beauty, essence and spirit of all three of those things. I couldnt even begin to articulate how the shots were accomplished, but they were done with such carisma that watching this video literally makes me feel as though its reaching down into my gut and grabing my soul. I believe that it was edited in a way to not only inspire people to see the movie (which Im thinking everyone should;) but inspire, and in a way, challenge each of us to push for the best. Push for the best in our own film making, or in our own personal gifts and skills.
